APS Intermediate Technique Masterclass

  • The fee for participants is $50.00 per student for the Masterclass.

  • Students will be selected and invited to participate.

  • Each student will perform a technique study and receive a lesson with Dr. Blair

  • All participants must remain for the entire masterclass. Please dress formally and bring copies of your music to the performance.

Dr. Timothy Blair

​

Timothy Blair, a noted classical music educator and pianist, has served as dean of the School of Music at West Chester University in Pennsylvania for over 15 years. Additionally, Timothy Blair is a professor of piano as well as the founding dean of the university's College of Visual and Performing Arts.

Throughout Dr. Timothy V. Blair's tenure, a number of exciting developments have occurred. One example is the educational partnership formed between The Philadelphia Orchestra and the School of Music. Completion of the Swope Music Building and The Performing Arts Center, a stunning new facility which is suitable for world-class performances, constitutes another of the school's new advancements. School of Music students and faculty have performed at the Weill Recital Hall in New York and the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, among other well-known venues. One of the school's most prominent trumpet events, the Ellsworth Smith International Trumpet Competition, is regularly held at the school. Of significant note, and under his watch as Dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts, is the recent opening of the new E.O. Bull Center for the Arts which serves as the home for the Art, Theatre, and Dance Programs.

The dean received his Doctor of Musical Arts at Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. Prior to earning this degree, he graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston with a Master of Music. Timothy V. Blair earned a Bachelor of Music from Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania.

Currently, Dr. Timothy V. Blair maintains memberships in numerous professional arts organizations. He serves as a national accreditation visitor for the Commission on Accreditation of the National Association of Schools of Music. In addition, he serves on the Board of Visitors for his alma mater, the New England Conservatory of Music. The dean is a Steinway artist who has been recognized for his leadership in education and the arts by U.S. Senator Casey, as well as the Senate of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Mayor Comitta of West Chester, Pennsylvania. Most recently he was granted honorary citizenship in Guiyang, China, where he was also granted honorary appointment to the artist faculty of Guizhou University by the People's Republic of China.
