Studio Policy for New Students
In effect from September 1, 2022 until August 31, 2023
Payment
Payment can be made in one of two ways; monthly or semester. Payment can be made either by PayPal, Venmo, Check or Cash. Invoices are sent to families by the fifteenth of the previous month, and payments are due on the first of the month. I.e. The invoice for January tuition is sent on December 15th, and is due by January 1st. A $20.00 fee will be charged to your account for any late payments.
Semester Rate - 17(Fall)/22(Spring)/12(Summer) Prepaid lessons (5% off of the Regular Rate)
Fall Semester - September 1, 2022 - December 31, 2022
Spring Semester - January 1, 2023 - May 31, 2023
Summer Lessons - June 1, 2023 - August 31, 2023
There are no rollover payments between semester. If you prepay a package of lessons for the trimester, all lessons must be held within that semester, or the balance will not be rolled into the next semester's tuition.
Regular Rate -
The regular rate is offered for students who wish to pay monthly, instead of for an entire semester. It is also designed for students who register for lessons in the middle of semesters.
Please contact Mr. Anemone for more details on tuition pricing.
Scheduling and Cancellation Policy
At least 24 hours notice is required to cancel lessons for any reason. With proper notice, make-up lessons will be offered to the student, at the discretion of the teacher’s availability. If you do not give proper notice for a rescheduling, it is not guaranteed that you can be accommodated. Please understand that due to the teacher’s availability, make-up lesson times may not be offered.
Students are allowed one unexcused absence per year for sickness, sudden obligations, etc. with no penalty. Unexcused absences are instances when a lesson is canceled without at least 24 hours notice. Failure to cancel with more than 24 hours notice will result in having to pay for that lesson, without the option of scheduling a make-up lesson. If the teacher has to cancel a lesson, students will be granted optional make-up times, at the discretion of the teacher’s availability.
Excesses in payment (due to cancellations or other reasons) will not roll over between trimesters. If you miss a lesson, you must make-up that lesson within the trimester. If an absensence takes place at the end of a trimester and there is no possibility for a makeup lesson within that trimester, the teacher has the discretion to offer the student with a makeup lesson in the next trimester, as long as it is in the first week of the following month. This lesson may not serve as a replacement to a regularly scheduled lesson.
If the student decides to discontinue lessons for an extended period of time (more than three consecutive weeks) or permanently, any outstanding balances must be paid immediately. Discontinuing lessons for an extended period of time (more than three consecutive weeks) will also result in losing your reserved lesson time. No refunds are offered to students who discontinue lessons in the middle of a month or semester. Exceptions may be made at the teacher’s discretion.
Only students who commit to taking weekly lessons will be granted a guaranteed lesson time. Students taking irregular lessons will have to schedule individually for each lesson. If a student cancels very frequently or is not taking weekly lessons, the teacher has the right to remove you from your lesson time.
20 minute lessons are only offered to students aged 5 or younger who are beginning with lessons and may only be held for up to six months. After that point, the student must upgrade to at least 30 minute lessons. 30 minute lessons are only offered for students at a level of “Russian School of Piano Playing, Book 1, Part 1” or equivalent. After that point, the student must increase to a minimum of 45 minute lessons. 45 minute lessons are only offered for students at or below a level of “Russian School of Piano Playing, Book 1, Part 2” or equivalent. After that point, the student must increase to a minimum of 60 minute lessons.
Students must follow the minimum lesson time requirements outlined in the policy above. The teacher has the right to refuse providing the student a lesson time if they do not commit to the minimum lesson time requirement. If you hear a student who is very advanced at piano, please understand that they likely take multiple hours of lessons per week. Their practice time is also likely multiple hours per day. This is necessary for a student to play at a very advanced level. Although a 60 minute lesson is standard, it becomes a very short amount of time when reaching the late intermediate/advanced level.
Studio Environment
Any student under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the lesson, unless under special circumstances that are previously arranged. Parents/Guardians who decide not to sit in on lessons must pick-up and drop-off their child. Students are not permitted to leave the studio without a present guardian, unless under circumstances previously arranged.
Please remember that although this is a piano studio, it is also our home! Please knock/ring the doorbell and wait for someone to allow you to enter. Please respect the privacy of our home by only entering rooms designated for lessons. This includes our living room studio, our second studio, and our hallway restroom. Students/Guardians are fully responsible for any damages that they cause to equipment, furniture, or other property inside or outside the studio.
Please be mindful of others having to park in our driveway. It is possible that there will be 1-3 cars parked at any given time. Please do not allow your child to run on the property. There are many stairs leading up to our front entrance.
Parents/Guardians are highly encouraged to watch the lessons (especially in order to assist their child with practicing at home). However, parents/guardians are not welcome to interrupt or actively take part in the lesson.
The teacher has the right to refuse to teach a student for any reason.
All lessons are video recorded. This is an educational tool we use to help students with their practice at home. It is also a safety precaution to ensure a safe learning environment. If this is something that discomforts either the parent or student, the video camera may be turned off for that particular lesson. However, regardless of the age of that student, the parent must then be present for every lesson in its entirety. When studying piano, for educational and demonstrational purposes, there will be physical contact between the teacher and student during lessons. Unless otherwise noted, the teacher holds this right as long as it is in the interest of learning purposes.
